Hot-melt adhesives for automobiles have been used in the automobile manufacturing industry for more than 50 years. In recent years, due to the increasing requirements for the commerciality and usability of automobiles, the hot-melt adhesives used in automobile production Materials are increasingly diversified, bonding and sealing technology has become an indispensable process, adhesives have become a necessary material for automobile production, and bonding technology has also become one of the important technologies in automobile manufacturing.


As an adhesive for automobiles, its performance must not only meet the requirements of the use and life of the automobile, but also must have the manufacturability to adapt to the large-scale flow-type production. It must have suitable physical and chemical properties and good construction performance. , Including storage stability and transportation safety, hot melt adhesives have certain advantages in this regard, so they have been widely used in the automotive industry. Mainly used for the bonding of car roofs (including PVC roof seams, roof linings, roof sound insulation pad bonding, roof arch reinforcement beams and roof bonding, etc.), automotive interior and exterior decorations Bonding, welding and sealing of automobile body panels, etc., mainly polyester and polyamide hot melt adhesives.


A car is composed of tens of thousands of parts. In foreign countries, a car needs about 4kg of hot melt adhesive. There are mainly the following parts used.


①Headlights. The traditional method of headlights is to use rubber seals with holes, which are compressed and sealed by screws. After switching to hot melt adhesive, it can be quickly bonded and sealed, which not only reduces production but also facilitates automatic production, and has good sealing performance.


②Seat. In the past, seat production used crimping, buckles and other mechanical methods to fix the seat cushion and frame together, but now it is bonded with hot melt adhesive, which not only reduces the occurrence of misalignment, but also enables semi-automatic production, which greatly reduces Cost of production.


③Dashboard air duct. The car instrument panel and the cardboard parts are bonded to form a cavity air duct. In the past, large staples were used to connect, which not only wastes man-hours, but also seals poorly. After using hot melt adhesive, the production efficiency is improved and the quality is guaranteed.


④ car accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal of the car is made of polypropylene material. Considering the wear resistance, it needs to be bonded in the middle groove - a polyoxymethylene disc, which is a difficult-to-bond material and can only be bonded with hot melt adhesive.


⑤ Lost foam for automobile engine intake pipe. The engine intake pipe is made of aluminum alloy, and the manufacture is made of expanded polystyrene lost foam. Due to the hollow structure, the two parts must be glued into a whole. This process needs to be completed within tens of seconds, and the adhesive should disappear together with the polystyrene foam at the temperature of aluminum water, and the use of EVA/wax-based hot-melt adhesive is particularly ideal.
